Today, February 23, 2021, the Sapelo Island Cultural & Revitalization Society remembers and honors the life of a Sapelo Island Descendant, Ahmaud Arbery. On February 23, 2020, Ahmaud went on his usual run only to be hunted by three white men with trucks and guns and lynched in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon. SICARS
